5150 Star Navy Campaign - Y172 Early July
Welcome back to my campaign log. My first orders from Klingon admiral Kesh are simple. Patrol Seltran V's orbit in force to collect data about Federation fleet movements and elements present. I send out my entire Heavy Squadron:
1x C7 Heavy Battlecruiser (4)
3x D7 Battlecruiser (4)
2x E4 Escort (4)
Here is the system map, with the planet Seltran V in f6 ("o"). I have to patrol the map and contact all PEFs (Possible Enemy Forces). My squadron starts in e5 ("k"). There are three PEF ("p"). The numberals behind the letters are the REP values.

Turn 1: Neither side moves, no enemy reinforcements though.
Turn 2: I can't move. One PEF closes towards me.

Turn 3: I move first and all three PEF's have a chance to move thereafter. I decide to take on p3 with full strength. Contact is only a couple of neutral freighters. One PEF down.
One PEF moves past me towards Seltran V, the other heads for me. Battle Alert! Four enemy ships head on in optimal Phaser range!

Battle Turn 1: I split my squadron into the C7 and two E4 and 3 D7. My plan is to flank with the D7's while the other squadron slowly advances. Feds hit nothing long range. My D7's open up on the Frigates, obliterating both easily.
Battle Turn 2: Feds decide to go for the D7's as they are closing quicker and hit nothing. Klingons are not shooting straight either. One D7 shaves off 2 hull and one shield of the Heavy Cruiser though.
Battle Turn 3: The Federation Battlecruiser damages the lead D7 who move starboard and damage the Heavy Cruiser badly. Both E4's finish the job. My Battlecruiser can only inflict light damage on his counterpart.
Battle Turn 4: The wounded animal pounces forward into torpedo range and unleashes. The already damaged D7 is is stripped of shields and nearly all weapons. Photons smash the bridge and hull of another D7 reducing its REP. The D7 squadron swings around and releases a rain of Disruptor bolts on the last Federation ships. Her shields collapse. As Life Support and Engine hits mount the Federation captain disengages. Another PEF down with only one D7 crippled.

Turn 4: The last PEF moves towards the planet but luckily in a way I can intercept it. It is a single Heavy Cruiser (4) on patrol. I immediately break off the crippled D7 and with good detection range the Cruiser can never close before I vaporize it. The patrol mission was very successful and my squadron returns home. As always a bit of luck was necessary. The last PEF could have easily reached the planet letting me fail the mission.

Due to the heavy casualties without losing a ship in return enemy Morale drops to 2. High command is pleased and transfers a Frigate to my fleet. The gravely damaged D7 is patched up. Luckily its crew was hardened in battle enough to recover from the REP loss, they are back to REP 4.
