5150 Star Navy Campaign - Y172 Late July

After my successful first mission with the Klingons, admiral Kesh is pleased and lets my forces hunt for glory and honor for the rest of the month.

I did a change to the Disruptors. They now also degrade with long range fire like guns, but only after 48".

I expect some combat and bring two squadrons:

Turn 3: I send my lead squadron after p5 and my raiders hunt after p3 but just find some sensor shadows.

Turn 4: I close to p5. The PEF turns around, it is a Federation patrol.

I bring 3 ships more to the battle but these ships are all REP 5. Especially on the Dreadnought this actually gives them the advantage. I detect the enemy farther away and can bring my ships in a good position far away


Some quick first turns sees the Federation Light Cruiser destroyed and the Fast Cruiser heavily damaged. The Federation Dreadnought brutally rips the D6 squadron apart. One destroyed, one break off after heavy damage and the last one breaks off seeing the overwhelming firepower.


The next couple of turns are not eventful. Only marginal damage. Shortly before Torpedo range the Fast Cruiser and a D5 bite the dust.


First round of close combat sees some light damage on both Dreadnoughts. As the cumbersome ships circle Fed Phasers destroy the last D5. After a full circle Torps fly and smash my C8's engineering section. Its captain decides to break off. A hard fought Federation victory.

My Lead squadron has a C8 and a D6 left but they need repairs and are out for this mission. They will be available next mission though.

Turn 5: I win initiative and engage.

I shouldn't have... The already damaged Dreadnought takes a lot of damage. Two thirds of my recon squadron already destroyed or broke off. I have to kill this Dreadnought! I fire, bring it down to 1 hull. One... more... turn...

It swings around and annihilates my remainig ships with Phasers and Torpedoes.

So my mission fails but luckily morale stays the same. A surviving D6 has its crew promoted to REP 5 but I get no reinforcements. To patch up the losses the lead and recon squadrons are merged with the E4 in my reserve pool added.

Before I get to the next mission I have to think hard about my conversion stats, though. Disruptors are too fiddly and too powerful. Torpedoes are usually destroyed before they can make their impact.
